Deian Boldor arrived in Győr in September 2023. At that time, the club—then competing in the second division—had a clear objective: to secure promotion to the top flight. The Romanian centre-back was among the first signings of a squad strengthened with international experience. His character, experience, and defensive qualities brought a level of stability to the back line that clearly exceeded the standards of the second tier. During the 2023/24 season, he made 22 league appearances and featured in 2 cup matches, spending nearly 1,700 minutes on the pitch. At the end of the season, Boldor and the team celebrated the long-awaited promotion together.

Following promotion to the top flight, ETO FC underwent significant changes. The Romanian defender lost his place as a regular starter, but became one of the most important figures in the dressing room and within the squad. With his international experience and background across several countries, he provided valuable support to the club’s younger players and served as a strong link between the new arrivals and those who played key roles in the promotion campaign.

Across two seasons in the top division, he made 23 league appearances and featured in 6 cup matches. His experience also proved valuable in the UEFA Conference League, where he represented ETO on three occasions in European competition. During his three years at the club, he scored four goals in total.

“A message or a single sentence could never fully describe everything we have experienced together. I was given the opportunity and the joy to spend three wonderful years in the ETO FC Győr family, filled with commitment, hard work, and performances that helped take the club to where it truly belongs. I would like to thank every coach, our sporting director Steven Vanharen, the entire staff, the medical team, and everyone who took care of us day in, day out. Thank you to my teammates, who became much more than just teammates – they became a family. A special thank you goes to the Világi family for giving me the opportunity to stay here for so long. And thank you to the ETO supporters for their incredible backing throughout these years. We gave everything, and our efforts brought results!

It has been a beautiful and unforgettable experience. I will miss you all and will always remember you, and I will continue to support ETO.”

With his unique character and free-spirited style, Deian Boldor was a refreshing presence in the current ETO squad. He arrived in Győr with great expectations as one of the architects of success, and in the summer of 2026 he departs as a champion. We sincerely wish him all the best in his future career.
