Nigerian midfielder joins ETO FC from Israel
ETO FC have signed Nigerian defensive midfielder Peter Agba. The 23-year-old joins the Győr-based club from Maccabi Haifa.
Peter Agba was born in Nigeria on December 20, 2002. He began playing football in his home country, where he also made appearances for the Nigerian U17 national team. At the age of 18, he started his European career when he joined Croatian second-tier side NK Zagorec. He was unable to establish himself as a regular in the Krapina-based team, so he moved within the division and signed for NK Dubrava. During the 2022/23 season, he made 35 appearances for the Croatian second-tier club, and it was this campaign that proved to be his real breakthrough in European football.
In August 2023, reigning Slovenian champions and cup winners Olimpija Ljubljana secured his services. Agba became a key player for Olimpija during the 2023/24 season, helping the team finish third and qualify for the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. The summer 2024 Conference League qualifying campaign proved highly successful for both the Slovenian side and Agba, as Olimpija eliminated Sheriff Tiraspol and Rijeka to reach the league phase. Peter Agba played every minute of the qualifying matches.
The 2024/25 season was not only successful on the European stage, as Olimpija also won the Slovenian league title. Agba made a total of 35 league appearances, 12 Conference League appearances and 4 cup appearances during the season. He remained an undisputed starter at the beginning of the following campaign, but in the final days of the transfer window he moved to Maccabi Haifa, who had finished third in the Israeli league.
Agba quickly established himself as a regular in midfield for the 15-time Israeli champions. During the 2025/26 season, he made a total of 24 league appearances and 3 cup appearances, scoring one league goal.
The 180-centimetre-tall, 23-year-old midfielder is under contract with Maccabi Haifa until 2028. He joins ETO FC on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy.
Welcome to Győr, Peter! Best of luck!
