At the training camp in Austria, head coach Efraín Juárez began work not only with a large squad of players, but also with an extensive coaching staff. Expanding the staff had already been part of the plans at the end of the previous season, allowing greater focus on both international competition and day-to-day preparation going forward.

Following the departure of Bernd Thijs, three assistant coaches will now support head coach Efraín Juárez in his work. At just 33 years old, Alex Larrea joins ETO with a remarkable international coaching journey already behind him. From Spain to Japan and Colombia—where he was part of a back-to-back championship-winning staff—the Spanish coach has consistently contributed to success at the highest level. Most recently with UNAM Pumas, Larrea arrives ready to bring his international experience, winning mentality, and innovative approach to ETO.

Luis “Lucho” Pérez is a familiar name to football fans. The former Mexico international midfielder, capped 69 times, was one of the most successful South American footballers of the 2000s. As a player, he appeared at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and his club successes include two South American Champions League titles. After retiring, he remained in football and joins Győr from Colombian side Atlético Nacional.

Zoltán Lipták will also remain with the team as an assistant coach.

The backroom staff is also strengthened by Luca Guerra, who has gained nearly fifteen years of experience in Hungary and in Europe’s top leagues. He worked for many years alongside Carlo Ancelotti as a fitness coach at Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton. The Italian specialist most recently worked for Brazilian top-flight club Botafogo, bringing considerable experience to our club as the new Head of Performance.

Guillermo Zaragoza, ETO FC’s fourth new staff member, joins as Sport Scientist. The 34-year-old Spanish-Mexican specialist has worked at several Spanish first- and second-division clubs since 2015. In his self-developed analytics system, he examines complex performance metrics that are among the most valuable tools in modern football today. Outside Spain, he has also worked in the United States, Colombia and Mexico, and most recently worked at UNAM Pumas.

We wish our new staff members every success! We will soon present the full staff...
